Saalfelden celebrates: New K85 ski jump ready for jumping records!

With a worthwhile investment of around 5.2 million euros, the municipality of Saalfelden has comprehensively modernized and brought the Felix Gottwald ski jumping stadium into shape. After several years of renovation, the ski jumping facility in the Uttenhofen district was recently tested - and with prominent support. Among other things, the team vice world champion from Trondheim, Lisa Eder, on site and demonstrated their skills on the new K85 ski jump.

The funding for the project shows how strongly the community supports the sport. The municipality provided 2.6 million euros, while the state of Salzburg also made a contribution with 1.34 million euros and the federal sports ministry with 1.1 million euros. The Saalfelden Tourism Association also contributed 200,000 euros to the financing.

Opening and use of the new facility

The ceremonial opening of the facility is scheduled for October 12th. On this day, both professional ski jumpers and young talents will inaugurate the new K85 ski jump. Lisa Eder, who started on the 15-meter hill in Saalfelden twelve years ago, has already completed five training jumps on the new facility and was enthusiastic about the improved conditions.

The renovation of the ski jumping facility included numerous measures that ensure optimal training and competition conditions. These include, among other things, additional team accommodation, lounges for the K85 and K60 ski jumps as well as modernized climbing aids for the K15 and K30 ski jumps. In addition, the mat and sprinkler system was renewed for summer operation and the inrun tower for the K85 ski jump was rebuilt. The adjustments were of course made taking into account the FIS specifications.

A sports location with tradition

Saalfelden has developed into an important location for young ski jumping talent through educational institutions such as the middle school, the five-year ski high school and the sports branch in the high school. Two successful sports clubs are already based here: the Schiklub Saalfelden and the HSV Saalfelden. State Sports Councilor Martin Zauner emphasized the importance of this infrastructure for supporting both professionals and young talents. However, Mayor Erich Rohrmoser also highlighted the great support of external partners who contributed to this project. Especially at a time when sport is becoming increasingly important for children and young people, this investment is an important step into the future.
