Brave twelve-year-old saves neighbors from deep water shaft in Schweinbach!

A completely normal afternoon became a scene of heroic action for the residents of Schweinbach. On September 18, 2025, a man fell into a seven meter deep shaft filled with water. Fortunately, the twelve-year-old neighbor child Sophie was there and demonstrated an extraordinary level of courage in this life-threatening situation. When Sophie saw the accident, she didn't hesitate for long and immediately started looking for the Schweinbach fire department's phone number to make an emergency call. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. when the man fell headfirst into the shaft and also turned around, further endangering his situation.

Thanks to her quick reaction, Sophie managed to reach youth worker Mario Schwarz at the fire station. He was busy with administrative work at the time of the call, but immediately recognized the seriousness of the situation. Schwarz immediately alerted the fire department, height rescuers, rescue and police. While the emergency services responded, the victim made sure that he could still breathe, which was crucial for his rescue.

Rescue by the fire department

The Schweinbach fire department quickly arrived at the scene and was unstoppable. Under the leadership of Deputy Commander. Thomas Königsdorfer, the high-altitude rescuers rappelled a rescuer down into the shaft. In an impressive operation, the man was finally safely rescued and handed over to the Red Cross for medical care. Thanks to Sophie's prudent actions and the fire department's quick response, the emergency services were able to prevent a tragic outcome, as Fireworld reported.

Sophie has now been honored by the Schweinbach fire department for her courageous efforts. In a solemn ceremony she received the fire department bear “Konrad”, a symbol of courage, helpfulness and solidarity. Fire Department Commander Philip Rittberger praised Soprie's exemplary behavior and her impressive efforts will certainly be remembered. Sophie has already made plans to join the Schweinbach Fire Brigade Youth, showing how important her commitment to the community is.

A role model for the future

Sophie's story is not only a beautiful example of moral courage, but also a valuable lesson about the importance of keeping a cool head in crisis situations. In a world full of uncertainty and challenges, their actions are a shining light and inspire others to act similarly.
