In Kleinraming, in the Steyr district, a serious industrial accident occurred on Friday morning, October 17, 2025, which seriously injured a 48-year-old construction worker from the Amstetten district. At around 8:30 a.m., during construction work on a new bridge roof in the area of ​​the Ostermayr Bridge, the worker lost his balance while erecting a roof structure for a wooden walkway and fell several meters into the stream bed of the Ramingbach.

After the fall, he fell from a height of around four meters onto the stony ground, which resulted in serious injuries. His work colleagues immediately provided first aid and activated the rescue chain. The Steyr Red Cross was promptly on site, whereupon an extensive rescue operation in impassable terrain became necessary.

Rescue workers on duty

The fire departments from Kleinraming, Ebersegg and St. Ulrich were immediately alerted. The Kleinraming fire department deployed two vehicles and 22 emergency services to rescue the injured man. Due to the difficult conditions in the area, the construction worker was rescued from the stream bed with a spineboard and a basket stretcher and then transported to the nearby parish meadow. The emergency medical helicopter “Christophorus” landed there to provide initial medical care.

After the injured person was technically rescued and stabilized, he was flown to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Klinikum Steyr to receive further treatment. The entire operation lasted around an hour, and in addition to the Red Cross rescue workers, the Garsten police and an emergency medical team were also on site.

Cause of accident unclear

The exact course of the accident is currently unclear and is being investigated by the responsible authorities. The construction worker was an active volunteer and had set up a post as a makeshift scaffolding plank. This broke when you stepped on it, which led to the serious fall. It remains to be seen what further insights the investigation will bring.
