Lesch's Merlin Festival in Polling: Music and Climate in focus!

Polling, Deutschland - from August 1 to 3, 2025, Polling becomes a stage for a very special event: the first “Lesch's Merlin Festival” in the library hall. Under the direction of the renowned scientist and ZDF presenter Prof. Harald Lesch and in cooperation with the Merlin ensemble Vienna, this event becomes a "intellectual homeland" for physicists and art lovers at the same time. The organizers have set themselves the goal of creating a festival with a minimal CO2 footprint and at the same time putting exciting cultural impulses. Merkur reports .

The festival begins with a kick -off program about "The four seasons in climate change". This thematic focus is not only implemented in music, but also in readings. On Saturday evening, visitors can expect a musical highlight with rollers from Johann Strauss (son) and Italian arias, while Lesch leads through the evening as a conférencier. Zuenftick emphasizes that Sunday ends with the world premiere of Lesch's reading from "Laudate Deum", the climate of the deceased Pope Francis.

a festival with perspective

The Merlin ensemble Vienna celebrated its first appearance in Polling last year, which is considered a promising start for the cooperation. Lesch hopes that the festival can establish itself as a permanent institution, but of course that depends on success this year. Tickets are available both online and in the Ferchl nursery in Weilheim.

The festival will not only set musical accents, but will also raise awareness of the challenges of climate change. Lesch emphasizes the importance of Pope Francis's spiritual heritage and would like to draw attention to the urgency of these topics with his reading. The program is accompanied by musical interludes that are organized under the direction of the conductor Salvatore Perri. The Euroclassic Festival-Guide informed about the broad spectrum of artistic performances, which is also included in numerous international artists.

Integration into local concerns and global challenges - this is how the concept of the festival can be outlined. Preparations are in full swing and the anticipation is noticeable. One thing is clear: With this festival, Polling sets a new accent in the cultural landscape and looks at an inspiring summer with exciting event highlights. The combination of science and art could become the heart of this first edition and arouse interest in the region and beyond.
