A lot is happening in Feldkirch: The city has launched a new, attractive retreat with the “Kapfgarten Feldkirch” project. Where used to be only part of a flood protection project, an approximately 500 m² area is now created, which is intended to offer a high quality of stay. A sustainable redesign with trees, benches and water -permeable paths is in the foreground. A main focus is on the expansion of the Kapf Gorge, where the Ill river profile is widened by up to eight meters. This does not require minor interventions: the Kapfstraße and the Lower Ardetzenbergstrasse are removed at about 100 meters, and rock material is removed at the narrowest point. At the same time, the new road tour is made possible by a gallery work to guide the traffic safely through the gorge. A separate track for pedestrians and cyclists ensures additional security.
