Bludenz celebrates the past: Anno Damemal” connects generations!
On October 13, 2025, the Bludenzer Stadtsaal experienced a very special atmosphere. Mayor Simon Tschann invited around 200 seniors to a social get-together under the motto “Once Back in the Day”. The event couldn't have been more fitting - the focus was on exchanging stories and memories of earlier times. The mayor emphasized the value of these memories as an inseparable part of the city's history.
The guests, who brought with them over eight decades of life experience, shared their impressions of past shops, city festivals and childhood memories. Vice Mayor Andrea Mallitsch was pleased with the warm exchange between the seniors, which strengthens the community and keeps the city's cultural memory alive.
A look back at the city's history
Bludenz is known not only for its charming alpine landscape, but also for its historical charm and the key role in early tourism. The city, which is embedded in the five valleys star, offers numerous opportunities for relaxation and sporting challenges. The historic old town tour begins at Josef-Wolf Platz, which offers a view of the remains of the old city wall and the picturesque alleys. A popular destination is also the light-flooded castle garden, which will attract an even larger audience after its renovation in 2022. The more valuable are the personal stories and experiences told by the older generations, as they were brought to life at the “Year Back” event.
The event also received culinary support from the AQUA Mühle, and the musical entertainment came from “Tischmusik Bachmann”. A lecture by Otto Schwald about the hotel industry in Bludenz rounded off the program. Particularly noteworthy are the honors given to the oldest woman from Bludenz, Mrs. Maria Muhr (102 years old), and the oldest woman from Bludenz, Mr. Adolf Otto Burtscher (96 years old). An impressive symbol of the lively community of Bludenz, whose seniors represent an important link between the past and the future.
Look at upcoming events
Looking ahead to the coming weeks, Bludenzers can look forward to the traditional Christmas market, which will take place from November 27th to December 24th in Mühlgasse. The market will be officially opened by the mayor on November 28th at 5:30 p.m. Here visitors can enjoy mulled wine and other delicacies and look forward to a varied program with music, customs and culture.
The traditional hospitality that characterizes the city is also reflected in the numerous events on the program during Advent. Whether with a hot mulled wine or a visit to the children's bakery - the anticipation of Christmas is clearly noticeable in Bludenz. Offers such as pony rides for children and a Christmas puppet theater are also on the list of festive activities.
Overall, events such as “Anno Damemal” and the Christmas market reflect the lively togetherness and commitment of the people of Bludenz, who actively live and maintain cohesion in their city.
