Helping hands wanted: Time cushion needs committed supporters in Saalfelden!
Saalfelden relies on neighborly help: The social enterprise Zeitkissen is looking for committed helpers who would like to contribute their time to the community. The group has been active in Saalfelden since May 2025. It is an offshoot of the tried and tested social enterprise from Vorarlberg, which now operates throughout Austria and has developed steadily over the last five years. My district reports that The initiative's offerings are aimed primarily at older people who can benefit from the wide range of services.
The concept of Time Cushion is simple yet ingenious. Helpers collect hours that they can later use themselves, creating a resilient network that not only relieves the burden on caring relatives, but also supports families in different life situations. There are currently 20 helpers involved, a number that has increased from 11 initially to 20. Zeitkissen also provides information about the various aid services: from household support, shopping and errands to transport services and childcare.
Introduction and contact options
Anyone who is interested in learning more about time buffers or getting involved directly will have the opportunity to do so on September 29th. At 5:30 p.m. there will be a performance for helpers and those seeking help in the Saalfelden relief organization's office at Ritzenseestrasse 12. The concepts and opportunities for engagement are presented. Anyone interested can contact Brigitte Schwaiger (0664 88487930) or the team (0664 88487908). It is also possible to contact us by email: team.saalfelden@zeit Polster.com.
Because of the helpers' great commitment, 50,000 hours have already been saved for their own care in the past, and over 900 people have been able to benefit from the care. This shows how important such a network is for the community. The helpers aged 38 to 75 — with a focus on the 55+ age group — handle the majority of the offerings, which range from everyday assistance services to leisure activities.
Community support
The financial and spatial support provided by Mayor Erich Rohrmoser shows how important the initiative is for the city. This support is crucial in order to continue to expand and optimize the offering. The aim is to help people where the need is greatest so that social interaction is maintained and promoted. The concept The time cushion should be accessible to everyone; in special cases, support from the social welfare office is also possible.
The opportunities for engagement at Zeitkissen are as diverse as the people who benefit from them. Be it to simply spend time, go shopping, or accompany you to a doctor's visit: every hour counts and is valued. Anyone who is thinking about getting actively involved should not hesitate and take part in the performance. There are always ways to do good and get something back at the same time.
