A serious traffic accident occurred on October 16, 2025 at 7:20 a.m. on the L71 Zollfeldstraße in the market town of Maria Saal. For unknown reasons, a car left the road and fell into a trench several meters deep in a construction site. After the accident, the driver was freed from the vehicle using a hydraulic rescue device and then handed over to the emergency services for further care. Zollfeldstrasse was completely closed in the affected area during the entire operation.
Numerous emergency organizations were active on site, including the Maria Saal fire department, the St. Donat fire department, the St. Michael am Zollfeld fire department, the St. Peter-Stegendorf fire department, the Red Cross, an emergency doctor and the police.
