Burgenland's creative minds honored: QBDC wins Innovation Prize 2025!

In Oslip, at the 31st Burgenland Innovation Award ceremony on Wednesday evening, the state's most creative minds were honored in the Cselley Mill. QBDC GmbH from Neutal was convincing among the 34 submissions and secured the main prize. The prize is awarded by the Burgenland Business Agency and the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce and honors outstanding projects in several categories.

Particularly noteworthy is the innovation of QBDC GmbH, which was launched in 2022 by Monika Brazda and Karlheinz Landauer. The company simplifies the drug development process with the digital system “Eddi,” which allows DNA sequences to be tested virtually – comparable to a flight simulator. This method promises faster and more cost-effective drug development and made the main prize winner not only a hope for the industry, but also a beacon for innovation in Burgenland. For their achievement, QBDC GmbH received prize money of 7,000 euros, donated by Bank Burgenland. The company is also nominated for the State Innovation Prize and the special “Econovius” prize.

Diversity of award winners

The event, held at CSELLO – Cselley Mill, sees a wide range of innovations every year. Other outstanding companies were also honored at the awards ceremony. In the category for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Rene Schuch GmbH from Mischendorf impressed with its innovative “GRANUPUR Aqua Complete floor system”. Isosport Verbundbauteile GmbH from Eisenstadt won in the large company category for its sustainable lightweight composites for high-tech skis.

There was a prize for innovative services for G² Industrial Engineering GmbH from Stegersbach, which came up with “NextGen Reflex Micro-Optics”. Scioflex Hydrogen from Mattersburg and Skyability GmbH from Siegendorf also received awards for their projects; The first presents material testing under hydrogen conditions, while the latter was honored for construction site documentation with autonomous drones. Research Burgenland received a special prize for a project to commission a hydrogen pilot plant in Neusiedl am See.

Importance of innovation and collaboration

The State Councilor for Economic Affairs, Leonhard Schneemann, emphasized the essential role of innovation, research and development for the future of Burgenland. In addition, Deputy Governor Anja Haider-Wallner highlighted the advantages of EU membership for Burgenland companies. Economic support through EU funding is of great importance for many of these innovative projects.
