ESC Bludenz secures a strong 2nd place in the duo team tournament!

An exciting weekend for the Bludenz curling club! On September 21, 2025, the international duo-team tournament took place in Friedrichshafen, in which the Bludenz duo, consisting of Vinz Zech and Jürgen Juriatti, took part. With a remarkable performance, the team secured second place, just behind the victorious ESC Langenargen team, which played a brilliant tournament. What was particularly remarkable was that every duo team was able to defeat every opponent - except for the brilliant winner.

For fans of curling, there is not only reason to be happy about the successes. The next event, the club championship at the facility on Schmittenstrasse, is already around the corner. All spectators are welcome on October 11, 2025. Of course, your physical well-being is also taken care of - successful catering is guaranteed here!

Looking at curling

Over the last few decades, curling has not only established itself in Austria, but has also gained a firm place internationally. According to the Eisstock-Verband, the sport is practiced in many European countries as well as in North and South America, Australia, Africa and Asia. Those involved from all countries are networked together via the International Federation Icestocksport (IFI).

European and World Championships have been held since 1951, which further underlines the sporting relevance. In Germany, for example, it is played competitively in almost all federal states, while the sport is also considered a popular leisure activity in many winter sports resorts.

Curling can be practiced both in winter and summer. In winter on artificial ice or natural ice and in summer on hard surfaces such as asphalt or synthetic tracks. The exercise options are varied and offer both younger and older athletes access to this sociable sport.

The idea of community is an essential part of curling, both during the game and in the get-togethers afterwards. Modern equipment, such as poles weighing between 4.57 and 5.41 kg, ensures that both recreational players and professionals get their money's worth.
