Tauernklinikum appoints four new senior physicians – congratulations!

September 9, 2025 was a very special day at the Tauern Clinic in Zell am See: four experienced specialists were appointed new senior physicians in a celebratory ceremony. This award is not only a personal honor, but also a sign of the clinic's valuable development in the medical field.

The appointment was carried out by the collegial leadership of the Tauern Clinic, and the managing director Mag. Silke Göltl emphasized the great importance of promoting medical staff for overall patient care. “It is important that we not only create the best conditions for our patients, but also support the specialist staff so that they can develop further,” said Göltl, who expressly acknowledged the successes of the employees.

The new senior physicians

The appointment was made to the four new senior physicians who are already doing excellent work in their respective areas of expertise:

• Dr. Michaela Kröll – Abteilung für Allgemein- und Visceralchirurgie
• Dr. Katarzyna Matuszak – Abteilung für Augenheilkunde und Optometrie
• Dr. Jannik Wassermann – Abteilung für Urologie
• Dr. Abdulhanan Mahmoud – Abteilung für Innere Medizin

Medical Director Dr. Michael Hofer also emphasized the relevance of continuous specialist training: “Creating new perspectives for our doctors is a decisive factor for the quality of our medical care.”
