New gynecologist's office in Tamsweg: Health for all women!
Since the beginning of September 2025, there has been an important innovation for women's health care in Lungau: gynecologist Marcin Działek has opened a new cash desk in the specialist center of the Tamsweg State Clinic. This initiative aims to offer women from Lungau and neighboring Styria a low-threshold offer for gynecological examinations, such as sn.at reported.
The Polish native, who has been interim head of gynecology and obstetrics at the state clinic since May 2024, attaches great importance to financial relief for his patients. “It is important that gynecological examinations are affordable for all women,” says Działek. Despite his comparatively short time in Tamsweg, he has been working in gynecology since 2017, having previously gained experience in cardiac surgery and cardiology.
Flexible and wide range
The new health insurance office is located on the ground floor of the state clinic and is open on Mondays and Tuesdays in the afternoon. In addition to the gynecological services, which include preventive examinations, pregnancy care and the treatment of gynecological complaints, emphasis is also placed on a calm and protected atmosphere. Działek emphasizes the importance of patients being able to share their concerns and stories in a trusting setting, such as on the practice's website gyn-dzialek.com is to be read.
In addition to Działek, other specialists and physiotherapists are stationed at the specialist center, which ensures a comprehensive range of medical care. In addition, the Tamsweg branch of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) is also represented at the center. This increases the accessibility and attractiveness of the location for the local population.
Growing interest and support
The economic director of the state clinic, Andrea Schindler-Perner, emphasizes the importance of this health insurance office for the health care of women in Lungau. A total of 134 births were recorded at the clinic in 2024, and by September 9, 2023 there had already been 105, demonstrating the continued and growing interest in gynecological services in the region. There are currently three female doctors and three doctors in gynecology and obstetrics available to patients.
Especially in the context of women's health, it is important to shed light on women-specific diseases and gender stereotypes. The action plan for women's health, which was presented in 2017, provides for a total of 17 impact goals and 40 measures that are intended to sustainably promote the health of women in Austria. Information about this can be found on the homepage Federal Ministry of Labor and Women.
With this new cash register, the Tamsweg State Clinic shows that the region has a good knack for women's health care. It remains to be hoped that many women will accept the comprehensive offer and gain trust in the new contact point. After all, it's about health and well-being in all phases of life!
