A spectacular landslide affected the north-south connection in Norway near Nesvatnet in Levanger municipality on Saturday, August 30, 2025. The incident occurred at around 2:55 p.m. and resulted in serious damage to both the E6 highway and the parallel train route. The impact of the landslide is significant: two houses had to be evacuated and at least one car ended up in the water. Fortunately, one person who was in the vehicle was able to free themselves and was taken to nearby Levanger Hospital. A witness described that the driver jumped into a boat that he was transporting on his trailer to save himself. The emergency services are currently on site looking for a missing person who is believed to have been in the danger zone at the time of the incident.

The police have mobilized a large number of rescue workers. These include helicopters, boats, rescue dogs and divers, all of whom work together to search for the missing person. As police operations manager Ellen Maria Brende confirmed, both lanes of the E6 have completely slipped away, making the situation very dangerous. The exact reason for the landslide remains unclear for now. According to reports, it may have occurred during the stabilization work of the Norwegian railway company Bane NOR. They were carrying out work on a new crossing track when the earth finally stopped holding.
