Wiener Neustadt: Diploma handover for migrant families at the E: DU program!

Wiener Neustadt, Österreich - On July 3, 2025, a solemn diploma edition for families with a migration background took place in Wiener Neustadt, which took part in the education program E: DU (parents and you), formerly known as hippy. This innovative program is offered by the city of Wiener Neustadt in cooperation with the “Kidszone+More” association and focuses particularly on the linguistic needs of children. Integration City Councilor Franz Piribauer and Integration Council Kanber Demir congratulated the proud graduates and emphasized the importance of early funding until school starts.

The family visit program from Kidszone+More has helped many families in Wiener Neustadt since its foundation in 2012. Trained home visitors support the parents in promoting the language development of their children aged 0 to 7 in the familiar environment. In this way, the children can learn playfully and improve their language skills, which is essential for successful integration. The new orientation of the program towards modern funding materials that correspond to scientific standards was also highly emphasized by those responsible.

Education as a key to integration

In society,

education is considered a fundamental right that applies to all children, regardless of their origin or their residence status. As in Germany, migrant children also have the right to education in Austria, which is crucial for their social integration. Through targeted language promotion programs and intercultural education that already set in preschool age, the foundation stone is laid for their future participation in social life. Facilities now offer comprehensive solutions to help migrant children, to overcome language barriers and to participate in regular lessons. Measures such as German as a second language (DAZ) or special parent programs are an important building block.

Nevertheless, migrant children are often affected by disadvantages in many education systems, also in Austria. Studies show that they often achieve lower services and have a higher probability of canceling school. This picture is influenced by different factors, including linguistic barriers, different educational biographies and cultural differences that affect both children and their parents. Parents' participation in particular plays a central role in the school success of their children, whereby linguistic and cultural hurdles often have to be overcome.

In the light of these challenges, integration projects such as E: You are of great importance. They not only promote language skills, but also the parental participation and early support in the education system. Through the cooperation between schools, social institutions and the parents, an integrative and promoting environment can be created in which migrant children have the same opportunities as local children. In order to secure long -term success, however, it is crucial that the support goes beyond the early years and continuously continues.

Education is and remains a central topic in the integration of migrant children. Only through efficient funding measures and the willingness to cooperate are the chances that these children can not only overcome the linguistic hurdles, but can also participate in equal rights and successfully in social and cultural life.
