The bathing lake in Rechnitz is about to undergo a comprehensive redesign, which will be financed with over six million euros. These measures are intended not only to improve the infrastructure, but also to increase the attractiveness of the region. The Rechnitz bathing lake was created as a dam between 1962 and 1964 and offers an area of 38,789 square meters. The last major investment took place in 1993, when the ticket office, sanitary facilities, changing rooms and the wooden walkway were renovated. Now it's time to bring the 50-year-old structures up to date.
Planned attractions and construction phases
The overall project, which aims to restructure the swimming lake, includes in the first phase the construction of a new container-shaped buffet with a gross floor area of approximately 117 m² and new sanitary facilities. A small children's playground and the renewal of the stream cover are also planned. Worth seeing innovations, such as the outdoor climbing and bouldering facility, will replace the former “bird tower”. Completion of this first phase of construction is scheduled for February 2026 and is intended to lay the foundations for a newly designed campsite that will extend over the area of the current parking lot.
