Young filmmaker Thaller celebrates the premiere of his short film in Mattersburg!
An exciting day for film art in Mattersburg: Francisco Thaller, a talented 18-year-old filmmaker from our city, is presenting his second short film entitled “I’m a Psycho” today, October 16, 2025. The premiere will take place at Cineplexx Mattersburg, followed by another screening on October 24th at Savio Mattersburg. With his newly won high school diploma under his belt, which he took at Mattersburg High School in 2023, Thaller is now entering the film world with full force.
The new short film tells the exciting story of Paul, who suddenly becomes involved in a murder case after a short visit to a shop. For viewers aged 15 and over, the film, which has a running time of 25 minutes, offers thrills and depth. The idea for “I’m a Psycho” matured in December 2023, and production took almost two years.
“The filming time was quite intense as many crew members were often busy with other projects,” explains Thaller. But with a lot of commitment, including from assistant director and cameraman Tim Reismüller, as well as the main actors Ivan Rajkovic and Stefan Willi Wang as an inspector, the project was finally brought to completion.
A promising start
Thaller has already shown his skills in the past: with his debut film “Last Man’s Diary” he won a jury prize at the “Wien X-tra Video and Film Days 2024”. This gives a first taste of what we can expect from this young filmmaker in the future. Thaller already has plans for further film projects and would like to try out different genres. “I want to continually increase the quality of my work,” he emphasizes.
A further step towards professionalization is his interest in studying at the Film Academy in Vienna. Although he is aware of the limited places, he still knows that the path into the film industry leads through such educational institutions. “I definitely want to stay in the film industry and realize more projects,” says Thaller, who was recognized as a child for his musical achievements in the Burgenland Music School’s “Drumset Play-Along” competition. He received the highest score for his interpretation of “Paradise City”.
Considering all of these achievements, one thing is clear: Francisco Thaller has a knack for art and a dream that he pursues unwaveringly. Today's premiere is the next step in his journey, and the local community can stay excited to see what comes next. We wish Francisco and his team a full house and much success with “I’m a Psycho”!
