Tomasz Kireńczuk: New head for Brut Vienna from 2026 - a creative change!

Wien-Neubau, Österreich - On June 2, 2025, it was officially announced that Tomasz Kireńczuk will take over the management of the renowned co -production house Brut Vienna from the 2026/27 season. He follows Kira Kirsch and will start his activities in autumn 2026, while the new location in St. Marx will only open in autumn 2027. The City Councilor Veronica Kaup-Hasler underpins this message with a positive appreciation of his qualifications and experiences.

Kireńczuk brings an impressive biography. Born in 1983, he left his mark as a curator, dramaturge and critic, among other things as a co -founder of the Teatr Nowy in Krakow and as a curator of the international theater festival "Dialog - Wrocław". He has headed the Santarcangelo Festival in Italy since 2021. His focus on the internationalization of the local free scene is particularly emphasized, and the jury praised its expertise in the management of a house and his concept for promoting international cooperation. He plans to create a space for artists and sees the time without a fixed venue as an opportunity for creative experiments and the development of new formats.

Cultural vision for Brut Vienna

With his new role, Kireńczuk wants to continue and develop the successful course of Brut Vienna. His concept relies on the promotion of free theater, choreography and performance scene. Cultural City Councilor Kaup-Hasler emphasizes his teamwork and the appreciative dealings with employees and artists. Kireńczuk's approach to be active in public space and around the “Studio Brut” in Vienna-new building reflects his commitment to interact with the art scene.

The selection of the new artistic managing director was anything but easy. There were 30 complete applications, 22 women and 17 men, and the jury, consisting of experts from various areas, invited eight candidates to present their concepts. Four invitations to the hearing were finally pronounced, which underlines the high quality of the applications.

look into the future: training in cultural management

In October 2025,

parallel to Kireńczuk's personal journey in the Vienna Cultural Scene starts the cultural management studies at the Institute for Cultural Management (IKM). This studies are aimed at working people who want to deepen their knowledge of cultural management. The interdisciplinary approach and the possibility of developing your own projects invite you to gain new perspectives and to deal with challenges in the cultural business.

The application deadline runs from the beginning of April to mid-June 2025, whereby interested parties can take part in various information evenings in order to learn more about their studies. These different formats create a space for exchange and enable individual consultations to find the right study format. Cultural education and an integrative approach have been central since the beginning of the IKM.

Both the appointment of Tomasz Kireńczuk and the upcoming cultural management studies show that the Viennese creative landscape not only flourishes, but also has a clear view of the future, in which innovations and international cooperation are still in focus.
