Dramatic attack on the Carmelite Market: Men with weapons robbed!

In the night of Thursday, the Carmelitan market in Vienna-Leopoldstadt occurred to a raid that ended very traumatically for the victims. According to Kurier A 26-year-old and a 32-year-old were attacked by two unknown perpetrators at around 3.30 a.m. The men were threatened, beaten and robbed with a firearm. The stolen objects include headphones, a music box and cash.

It was particularly dramatic that the 32-year-old suffered his face injuries in the attack. The perpetrators have not yet been able to be caught. They are dressed as male, about 20 to 25 years old, darkly dressed and masked with black ski masks. One of the perpetrators noticed its size of around 1.90 meters. Despite an immediately initiated search, the investigation remained without success, so that every person with relevant information is asked to report to the police.

Investigations and background

The State Criminal Police Office has taken over the investigation. When interrogating the victims, marijuanager was also discussed. In the 26-year-old, the officials found a packet of marijuana and one with grated mushrooms. This led to it being displayed.

The police crime statistics (PKS) shows that such raids are not isolated, but are part of a broader development in crime in Austria. According to Federal Criminal Police Office since 2001 all indicated cases have been registered electronically, which enables strategic planning of the fight against crime. The PKS is regularly adapted to social changes and legal changes and offers a comprehensive overview of developments in the security policy area.

The effects on the population

The repeated reports of raids and other crimes not only bring the perpetrators to the spotlight, but also create a feeling of uncertainty among the population. Those affected and witnesses of such incidents want more security, while the investigative authorities are looking for solutions to meet these challenges.

The spread of information about such incidents is sharpened by the sensitivity of the public towards crime. At a time when some regions in Vienna are increasingly focusing on reporting, it is all the more important that the population is well informed about current events.
