Austrians have breakfast sweetly: jam is the clear leader!

Döbling, Österreich - The morning and breakfast: For many Austrians: an indispensable ritual inside. As a current study by the Gallup Institute on behalf of Staud’s Vienna shows, breakfast with us is not only a meal, but also a small moment of pleasure that many do not want to do without. Almost three quarters of the respondents in Austria, more precisely around 75%, regularly have breakfast on weekdays, and at the weekend this number even highlights 87%. This shows how important the daily breakfast is for most of us. ”

The survey, in which 1,000 people aged 18 and over, also emphasizes that the generation of over 65-year-olds is particularly hardworking here: over 80% of this age group has breakfast every day. Most breakfasts between 10 and 20 minutes take their first meal of the day, regardless of whether it is a hectic working day or a relaxed weekend. Breakfast takes place primarily at home: 85% during the week and even 94% on weekends enjoy their dishes in their home environment.

The study differentiates three different breakfast types that meet the different preferences of the Austrians: inside: connoisseurs: inside (27%), health -conscious (21%) and hasty breakfasts: inside, which can be found primarily in large households. The most popular breakfast components seem to be clear. Bread and pastries are at the top of the list, followed by one of the favorite sweet breakfast variants - the jam that use 43% of the working day surveyed on weekdays and even 44% on weekends.

For families and friends on Sunday, the egg dish is an integral part of 44%. Cheese, sausage and honey can also be found in the breakfast box with a share of around 30%. Especially the striking numbers between sweet and piquant go hand in hand, because almost 39% are part of the sweet guy, while 31% prefer a spicy breakfast and even use 25% on the healthy variant.

The survey also shows that jam is the most popular sweet spread, with a preference for varieties that offer high fruit shares: 70-80% are estimated, and real pieces of fruit can be found in 39% of those surveyed. Alternative jams are particularly trendy for younger ones, while the older semesters have classic with jams (50-60% fruit content). One of the most popular combinations is jam on black bread (76%), followed by rolls at 70%and toast at 39%. The apricot enthroned the most popular jam variety in Austria.

But what is the Austrian doing: Inside, actually appreciating breakfast so much? Around 70% of the respondents see this a physical reset that brings energy, performance and concentration for the day. In addition, over 50% report on an improved mood after breakfast. This shows that this cultural asset is more than just a meal; It's a little morning fun!

Overall, the survey has shown that breakfast is not only a must for most of us, but also a pleasure that promotes the opening for a good day. And so the fragrance of freshly baked bread and the aroma of coffee will continue to do the Austrian households.
