Art VHS Alsergrund celebrates with summer festival after successful renovation!

Alsergrund, Österreich - The reopening of Alsergrund Kunst VHS after extensive renovation brought a breath of fresh air to the time -honored walls on June 6th. The building was brought up to date as part of the "Refurbishment and Investment program Wiener Volkshochschulen 2030", which ran from November 2023 to January 2024. The art of VHS, which has been an important place for creative education since it was founded in 1947, has not only been renovated, but also barrier -free. The fire protection was renewed, and blankets, floors, walls and lighting were also modernized. "The uniqueness of art VHS is unmistakable," emphasized Christian Deutsch, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Wiener Volkshochschulen GmbH, while praising the new possibilities that the renovation offers. In this way, the artistic work can be continued in an appealing and contemporary environment.

a colorful festival for all

The summer festival offered a varied program that, in addition to theater performances for children, also included the presentation of a "cultural quilts" that can be understood as a strong sign against racism. The motto of the event, which celebrates diversity, was of great importance both in Alsergrund and in other cities such as Lindau. Here the Valentin-Heider-Gymnasium organized an inclusive summer festival with the aim of working against racism together with Lebenshilfe and Club Vaudeville. The annual exhibition was also opened in Alsergrund, the work of course participants shows and underlines the creative performance of the educational institution. Over 200 teaching artists from different nations enrich the concept of art VHS with its diverse perspectives and teaching approaches, which creates more than 1,200 offers in painting, photography, sculpture and music every year.
