Summer campaigns for low -income families - outdoor swimming pool and wait!

In Voitsberg, families with low incomes are being caused again these days. At a press conference on July 5, 2025, the KPÖ West Styria presented two important summer main areas that are under the promising motto "for an affordable break at home". The aim is to give the families concerned a carefree time and to support them in their financially tense situation.

The first action point includes a proven swimming pool campaign that has been running since 2022. Tickets for the outdoor pools in Voitsberg and Bärnbach are distributed free of charge to people with low incomes. The budget for this initiative is 1,200 euros and the tickets can be picked up on Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Hildegard-Burger-Haus by the end of August, while stocks last. This option is a welcome relief for many families during the hot summer days.

The children's peace festival and other offers

On July 11th, a children's peace festival is also planned, which will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hildegard-Burger House. Here children can take part in various stations, collect a stamp pass and look forward to small gifts that are provided by the Styria children's country. This festival, which was launched in 2022 on the basis of the Ukraine War, is free to admission and should enable the children to take a worry-free break.

In addition to these summer activities, there are also regular social consultation hours in Deutschlandsberg. These take place on the first Monday of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Cube85, with the next appointment on July 7th. Registration is recommended on 0316/877 5101.

criticism of social cuts

But despite these positive initiatives, there are also critical voices. At the press conference, Sabine Wagner addressed the difficult situation of the emergency sleep center in Voitsberg, while Claudia Klimt-Weithaler referred to the street work project in Germany. The cuts in the social area by the Styrian state government cause unrest and fear that some offers cannot be maintained.

There are numerous programs around the topic of financial support, especially in Germany that help families in children's education. For example, the child benefit, which is 250 euros per child per month, and the child supplement, which offers up to 250 euros extra depending on the income. Services for education and participation, for example for school lunch or school trips, are also often used. These help show how important state support for families with low incomes is [_familienportal.de_] (https://familienportal.de/familienPortal/familienstreien In summary, it can be said that the events in Voitsberg on the one hand represent meaningful support for families, but on the other hand also illustrate the need to maintain and expand social achievements in order to improve the living situation of needy citizens.
