Grief in Graz: OKH concert of the CG quartet postponed indefinitely!

Vöcklabruck, Österreich - In a sad turn, the planned concert by Christian Groffner Quartet (C.G.Q.) was canceled in the OKH - Open Kulturhaus Vöcklabruck, which was to take place on June 12, based on the recent tragic events in Graz. Originally, the event was supposed to be part of the popular "Thursdays4Jazz" series, which regularly delights the audience with fresh music. This cancellation is particularly unfortunate because the concert had promised a special highlight for jazz lovers.

The C.G. Quartet, founded in 2019, consists of four talented musicians: Christian Groffner (trombone), Hubert Gredler (piano), Simon Schmollgruber (bass) and Lukas Böhm (drums). Christian Groffner, born in 1991, studied jazz trombone at renowned institutes in Linz, Vienna and Hamburg and connects the traditions of jazz greats such as Jack Teaftarden and Frank Rosolino with the modern approach of artists such as Nils Landgren.

a varied repertoire

The music of the quartet comprises a colorful mix that includes both jazzy-groovy compositions as well as dreamy ballads and swinging songs from the 30s and 40s. In addition, there are special extracts from a program that was composed for 100 years of memory of the Austrian writer Hans Carl Artmann. The musicians were inspired by the texts of the famous poet, which creates a unique connection between music and literature.

Artmann, born on June 12, 1921, is considered one of the most important figures in Austrian literature. His works are shaped by surrealistic style and treat cultural and political issues. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that his poems should form the basis for some of the planned musical performances, which gave the concert a deeper meaning.

cards and further information

for the concert, which must now be postponed, the entrance fees were set at 15 euros for regular tickets, 10 euros for reduced and 7.50 euros for youth tickets. More information about this and other events in the OKH can be found on the website www.okh.or.at

The anticipation of jazz and the connection to the literature remain, even if the hearts are affected today. We hope for an early new establishment of the concert and can hardly wait, the melodies of the C.G. To hear quartet and the thoughts of H.C. Artmann to enjoy in a musical form.
