The same celebration for ours: This is how Steyr becomes a social model!

In the Tabor district in Steyr, a remarkable residential project called "Sieine" is realized. At the same celebration on June 10, 2025, which was organized by the Housing Society of the City of Steyr, the progress of the construction work was admired. Not only rental apartments are planned on the construction site in Ferdinand-Hanusch-Straße, but also special offers for people with disabilities, women's shelters and a residential opportunity for older people. So the city of Steyr wants to consolidate as a social model city, which Mayor Markus Vogl particularly emphasized in his speech.

Another important element of the project is the concept of "vital living". This is aimed specifically at people aged 65 and over, who have easy to medium care needs. A total of 33 age -appropriate units are planned, the registration for these apartments began on April 1. The rental contracts are concluded directly with the GWG, the contacts for interested parties are Julia Fitzinger and Alexander Doriath. The municipal senior service is available for personal advice, where further information and application forms are available.

support for seniors

The housing issue takes place through a selection process between the senior service and the GWG. The residents can count on rent and operating costs, whereby half of the care allowance, but at least care allowance, is offset. The costs for care and support are currently around 185 euros per month. This financial regulation offers older people and their relatives a certain predictability and security, while they can spend their retirement in a loving community.

The “Sieine” project should not only offer a home, but also enable older people to live in autonomy and self -determination. Age -friendly living is becoming increasingly important, because it enables residents to find the highest level of independence and adapt to the individual needs. Aspects such as trained nursing staff and barrier -free access are crucial to increase the quality of life and to facilitate everyday life. Among other things, dementia-based forms of living or senior citizens could also represent interesting alternatives, as can be seen from various studies and reports.

Overall, the “ours” project shows great potential to give many people a better life and to have a positive aftermath for future generations. This supports the city's goal of positioning Steyr as a pioneer in the creation of sophisticated, social residential projects. As the mayor Michael Schodermayr emphasizes, the good location and infrastructure of the project plays a central role in the quality of life of the future residents. A real step into the future!
