Witnesses reported that the young man violently removed the castle and then shot twice in the air with a gun in order to deter potential witnesses. Fortunately, no people were injured in the incident, but the situation shows how dramatic the theft of e-bikes has now become. Police.news reports that ...

The fears of the police, however, were true, because the investigation led to a remarkable arrest. At that time he carried a shotgun and pushed an e-bike that later turned out to be that of his grandfather, which he had borrowed. Interestingly, the 19-year-old had an alcohol in the blood at the time of his arrest and was unable to give any satisfactory information about the shot. theft and prevention

Everyone is talking about

e-bike thefts in Upper Austria. According to a current survey of the Board of Trustees (KFV), which was published by the Federal Criminal Police Office, every tenth owner of an e-bike or e-scooter has already become the victim of a thief. For Austria, a total of 17,595 bicycle thefts were reported in 2021. E-bikes that are now very popular are stolen three times more often as an e-scooter.

The increase in such offenses is not only a challenge for the police, but also raises questions about the safety of cyclists. It should be emphasized that over 50% of the crime scenes are not publicly accessible, which the direction of the perpetrators interprets: they are specifically looking for expensive, easily usable devices. Experts therefore recommend using high -quality locks and always securing the vehicle on a fixed object. Prevention measures such as the use of GPS trackers and taking removable parts are advisable.

The current situation and events like in Schärding demand us to be vigilant and take the security precautions seriously. The police advise you to always pay attention to a safe place when parking your own vehicles. This is the only way to contain the trend of e-bike thefts. The police's investigation into this incident continues and the public is asked to act quickly and inform the authorities if theft or similar incidents are suspected. The case shows once again that security can never be neglected. E-bike owners should therefore prepare well-after all, the protection of one's own property is in their own hands.
