Waled -trail: New nature experience in Sankt Georgen from August 30th!
Sankt Georgen am Walde, Österreich - in Sankt Georgen am Walde takes the anticipation of a new adventure path: the Waldreichtrail in the picturesque Mühlviertler Alm officially opens its gate on August 30, 2025. At a running event for all age groups, not only the beauty of nature is celebrated, but also the common experience outdoors.
The forest trail is the first marked trail of this kind in the region and combines movement with nature experience. Running enthusiasts, walkers and hikers can let off steam here. The route leads through dense forests, over flowering meadows and past idyllic rural farmsteads. "The aim is that the participants can move in nature and relax," as the organizers emphasize.
The different variants
The trail comes in three variants that are suitable for different fitness levels and preferences:
- Waldreichtrail: 12 kilometers with 440 meters of altitude, ideal for those who are looking for a demanding challenge.
- Waldreichlight: A shorter, compact route of 7 kilometers with 250 meters of altitude, which contains an increase and a fascinating stone labyrinth.
- Waldreichwalk: The cozy variant for families and seniors that runs along the Light route.
For the particularly ambitious people there is also a group rating, in which the largest participating group and the most active children's and youth teams are awarded. In addition, free starting places are raffled for the 3 × 1 running event-details can be found here.
Experience movement in nature
The opening of the forest trail is not only a win for sports lovers, but also part of a growing trend that emphasizes the return to nature. The Friluftsliv-movement from Scandinavia and the concept of "nature fitness" are becoming increasingly popular. Hiking as a fitness sport that strengthens the cardiovascular system and boosts the immune system reminds us that nature is the best place to reconcile body and mind.
Thanks to these developments and the new trail, the Mühlviertler Alm region has the opportunity to become an attractive goal for nature and sports lovers. While the hiking boom found its origin in the 1970s, more and more people are coming back to the roots and discover hiking and trail running as attractive leisure activities.
be it while running, walking or simply walking: the forest trail offers the perfect opportunity for every taste to enjoy nature to the fullest. The new path encourages to leave everyday life behind and to focus on nature - in the spirit of the event: experience together instead of competition.
We look forward to an exciting opening ceremony and hope for numerous participants who will let off steam on the route! More information about the trail and the event can be found on the official website of the Waldeichtrails
