Hollabrunn conquers the wine world: three winners at the Salon 2025!
What a highlight for the Hollabrunn district! At this year's awarding of the Salon, the hardest wine competition in Austria, three wineries from this region used brilliant awards. The salon selects the 275 best wines in the country and is an institution that has existed for over 35 years, as meinbezirk.at .
The award ceremony took place in the festive framework of the Lower Austria Palais in Vienna, where numerous winegrowers and personalities in the wine industry gathered, including the Austrian wine queen. A total of 29 winning wines were awarded in different categories - a strong sign of the high quality of Lower Austrian wines.
Hollabrunn's triumphanta
The three awarded wineries from Hollabrunn impressively show what the region has to offer:
- Werner Grolly winery, Obermarkersdorf : "2024 Lower Austria Riesling Ried Nussberg" (category "Weißwein Frisch")
- Weingut Julius Klein, Pernersdorf : "2022 Lower Austria Grande Reserve Grüner Veltliner 'Urmeer'" (category "Weißwein strong")
- Weinbauernhof family Diem, Zellerndorf : "2023 Lower Austria Cuvée 'Laeticia'" (category "Red wine fruity")
It is particularly noteworthy that Hollabrunn was able to establish itself as the second best wine district in Austria, just behind Krems Land and on par with Neusiedl am See.
Lower Austria in focus
With 14 out of 29 winners,Lower Austria again provides the most awards. The excellent results are also reflected in the Lower Austrian state wine award, where the wines of the Weinviertel dominate. Of the a total of 5,500 wines submitted, 53 percent came from Weinviertler, such as Weinviertac.at notes .
The quality and variety of wines from this area are undisputed. Around 60 percent of the wines awarded in the salon are DAC wines that emphasize special regional origin. Chris Yorke, Managing Director of Austria Wein Marketing (ÖWM), is pleased about the awards and emphasizes that Austria is a role model in environmentally conscious wine production.
The wineries are increasingly relying on sustainable production methods, which is also visible in over half of the salon wines that belong to an environmental certification program such as "sustainable Austria". This is particularly evident in the young generation of winegrowers that interpret the green Veltliner and other varieties in an innovative way.
The Weinviertel will continue to exist as a figurehead for outstanding wines. It will be interesting to see which other delicacies will come from this region in the coming years. A high on the winegrowers and their tireless commitment to quality and sustainability! For further details about the winner's wines and their successes, visit Noen.at .
