Rattendorf determines the best fire brigades: Four district champions chosen!
The fire brigade district performance competitions for the Hermagor district took place in Rattendorf last weekend. This event combined 25 groups from the district, which dueled in different categories of the competition. The mood was tense and the participants did their best to cut a good figure in the fight for the prestigious titles. In the end, the district champions from Tratten, Köstendorf, Kühweg and Waidegg were highlighted.winner in the "Bronze A" category was the 5th group of the Tratten fire brigade from the municipality of St. Stefan. In the "Bronze B" category, the 4th group of FF Köstendorf, also from the municipality of St. Stefan. The 4th group of the Kühweg fire brigade from the municipality of Hermagor - Pressegger See, which was able to win in the "Silver A" category, was also superior. The team performance competition was won by the FF Waidegg group from the Kirchbach market town. All four winning groups have qualified for the national championships that take place on June 28th in meetings.

The outstanding achievements of the fire brigade groups in Hermagor reflect the high level of training and the commitment of the helpers. Events like this are not only a competition, but also a way to promote team spirit and camaraderie. The district championships are particularly important because they offer the groups the opportunity to present themselves at the state level.
The fire brigade is a supporting element of social life in Austria. According to the Federal Fire Brigade Association, a total of 350,283 members were active in the Austrian fire departments in 2022. Over 99% of these members work on a voluntary basis, which underlines the social importance of fire work. With a total of 244,360 missions in 2022, fire brigade members saved 7,930 people and 13,710 animals. These missions range from fire operations to technical operations that make up a large part of the work. The organization is also required with regard to the increasing challenges through natural events.

In recent years there have been remarkable winners, such as the 7th group of the Birnbaum fire brigade, which was victorious both in the "Bronze A" category and in "Silver A". Another victory was recorded in the "Bronze B" category by the 4th group of the fire brigade Waidegg, which triumphed in the previous year.
Special highlight of the competition will also be the musical framework by the Mauthen Trachtenkapelle. The congratulations of the winners are accompanied by prominent personalities such as the Member of the National Council Gabriel Obernosterer and Mayor Josef Zoppoth, as this shows the appreciation for the tireless work of the fire brigades.
