Traffic chaos on the B50: truck controls under criticism!

Eisenstadt, Österreich - A north castle countries are critical of the traffic situation on the B50 between Eisenstadt and Neusiedl. He observes that many truck drivers use the route because they know about a weakness in control. This not only leads to an increased noise level, but also increasingly traffic jams. The man who lives in a community on this important north-south connection describes the traffic situation as problematic and demands more urgent monitoring of truck traffic.

However, the police defend themselves against these allegations. Lieutenant Colonel Rudolf Ehrenhöfer explains that regular controls take place. These are often variable in terms of time and locally and concentrate in different places along the B50. The last controls were only recently carried out on the initiative of the state police director in order to react to the concerns of the residents. Ehrenhöfer emphasizes that although there are violations of the driving ban, they would not occur to the claimed extent. He also points out that many trucks are on the route for delivery services that cannot be ignored.

monitoring of the truck in focus

In order to guarantee traffic safety and compliance with regulations, comprehensive control measures were established. According to the Federal Office of Logistics and Mobility (BALM), inspectors are authorized to stop both domestic and foreign trucks and buses and to check them for compliance with the applicable regulations. In these controls, the possession of the necessary transport documents, the use of trippers and compliance with steering and rest periods are checked, among other things.

The balm carries out both mobile and stationary controls that also take place on federal and country roads. In order to determine whether the trucks meet the requirements, technical on the go (TUK) can also be carried out, which focus on the brake system, steering and exhaust gas cleaning systems. The focus of the controls is traffic safety and environmental protection to ensure that the vehicles do not represent any dangers to the environment.

technology for future controls

In the coming years, the technology will be further developed for control. From 2024, a new generation of control vehicles will be in use with advanced sensors and digital technologies. These vehicles can carry out comprehensive tests in flowing traffic, regardless of the weather conditions. This progress is intended to help increase the efficiency of the controls and enable the monitoring of vehicles in real time. By 2027, the development of a new control vehicle is planned in close cooperation with the BALM, which will combine the tasks of the existing toll control services and street control services.

Despite the existing controls, the situation on the B50 remains a hot topic. The residents and traffic politicians agree that traffic safety must continue to be the focus in order to solve such problems sustainably. So if you think that things are going calmly on the B50, you will quickly teach a better one - because there is still a lot to do here!
