Währinger students develop innovative timetable app Whatsnext Edu
In Währing, a lot is happening: Pupils from the Schopenhauerstrasse middle school proudly present their latest achievement, the timetable app "Whatsnext Edu". The official presentation took place in the festive framework in the Amtshaus in Martinstraße 100, where the young developers demonstrated their innovative idea. Martin Rinnhofer, the class board of 3b, launched the project, inspired by other schools that had already taken entrepreneurial paths. With the active support of Stevan Borozan, a consultant at Deloitte Austria, the students were able to take the first steps in the field of digital product development.
The project "Jump", which was initiated in collaboration with Teach for Austria and Deloitte, aims to make it easier for young people to get started with their professional life. Borozan accompanied the students every two weeks for two school hours and helped them understand various aspects of entrepreneurship. In order to use resources efficiently, the decision was made to develop a digital solution that should not only counteract paper chaos in schools, but also take into account the needs of the students, such as a dark fashion and an individual logo design. "Whatsnext Edu" is currently only available for Apple users, but an Android version is being planned.
The way to the app
The Teach for Austria Volunteering program, which creates a direct connection between school and business in socio-economic-controlled schools, makes a valuable contribution to equal opportunities. Participants of partner companies, such as Deloitte, not only bring their practical experience to the classroom, but also develop tailor -made educational formats for students. These include application coaching, financial education, presentation training and strength analyzes that help the students better plan their professional future, as reported.
digital education in focus
The digital change has also reached the educational landscape and was reinforced by the corona crisis. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) has launched a digital educational offensive to expand digital infrastructures and to promote the development of new learning tools. The aim is to qualify teachers and to convey content and methods digitally to optimally prepare the students for the challenges of the future, such as Education-forschung.digital
In this emerging period of digital education, it is essential that schools and companies work hand in hand to offer students the best chance of a successful future. With projects such as "Whatsnext Edu", a promising step is taken in the right direction.
