Liesing in the change: presented new mobility applications and hopper updates!
In the last district council meeting in Liesing, which took place a few days ago, there were many exciting news to report. District head Gerald Bischof (SPÖ) took a look at the current developments and particularly emphasized the interest in traffic concerns. A total of twelve applications were brought to the vote, including questions about the planned doubling at the intersection of Karl-Schwed-Gasse/Friedensstraße. The objection of the Viennese lines against this measure could influence the implementation in autumn if the responsible city councilor Ulli Sima (SPÖ) agrees. Meinverkirk reports that the Viennese lines regard the doubling as problematic for passengers.
Another topic was the innovative “Wienmobil Hops” project, which enables environmentally friendly and free mobility in Liesing. Bishop found that so far there were around 6,000 passengers who used the hopper and more than 4,700 trips were booked. The hopper, which is available on weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., has established itself as an important element for the "first and last mile" in local public transport. Interestingly, the pilot project was extended by June 2024, which underlines the importance of this mobility solution. District-liesing emphasizes that the system bundles inquiries and transports passengers together.
innovations and citizens' concerns
An application by the NEOS, which demanded more access to the renatured Liesingbach bank for residents, was largely assumed, which reflects citizen participation and commitment to nature. Furthermore, applications for evaluating bus line problems in Liesing and Hietzing were unanimously approved. Another kick -off came from the ÖVP, whose application to renew the facade of the municipal building at Erlaaer Straße 6–10 also received support.
The FPÖ scored with its suggestions for cleanliness in Liesing. It was unanimously decided to set up more dog decorative sacks donors and dung bucket and to strengthen the "Waste Watcher" controls in certain areas. These measures should not only increase the quality of life, but also upgrade the cityscape.
public transport in Vienna
Vienna can look forward to a powerful and sustainable public transport system organized by the Vienna lines. Daily, they promote over two million passengers on five subway, 28 tram and 131 bus lines. A significant factor for the increase in user numbers was the introduction of the 365 euro annual card, which makes it easier for citizens to switch to public transport. Vienna.info emphasizes that the Viennese lines are actively working on reducing motorized private transport and promoting multimodal mobility.
In summary, it can be said that there is a lot of movement in Liesing both at the local level and throughout the Viennese transport network. The committed action of the district council shows that the needs of citizens are taken seriously and innovative projects such as the hops are willing to mobilize even more people.
