Memorial concert in Prater: 50 years of Robert Stolz - a musical festival!

Wiener Prater, Leopoldstadt, Österreich - On July 2, 2025, a very special commemorative concert was held in the Vienna Prater in honor of the composer Robert Stolz. The reason for this ceremony was the 50th anniversary of the death of the important musician, who not only honored Vienna as an honorary citizen, but also known for his resistance to National Socialism. The Vienna Prater Association had organized the concert, which was freely accessible to all visitors.

Under the musical direction of the Vienna Hoch- and Deutschmeisterkapelle, the song "The trees in the Prater Blüh’n" was played. Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ) opened the concert and emphasized the great importance of Viennese culture. District head Alexander Nikolai (SPÖ) and relatives from pride were also on site to experience their honor together. These events literally shout for a worthy framework, and it was precisely the Prater with his picturesque backdrop.

A look at the musical legacy

The reminiscence of Raimund Sulz, the chairman of the German championship chapel, was particularly impressive. Kapellmeister Reinhold Nowotny looked back on his now 25-year management of the chapel and confirmed that pride remains an integral part of the repertoire. Silvia Lang, President of the Vienna Prater Association, also recognized the role of pride for the Prater, which the audience visibly touched.

The memorial concert is not the only event that took place in honor of Robert Stolz in 2025. On June 27, 2025, there was already another special occasion, the event "Melodienstrauss by Robert Stolz". Here a march of the German champion led through the Prater and ended in the Swiss house. This event was also actively supported by the supporters of the Vienna Prater Association and other local clubs, including the district chairmanship Leopoldstadt and basic culture of Vienna, while the sponsors, such as Admiral, also played an important role.

With such impressive events, not only proud ’music, but also his legacy, which is firmly anchored in the heart of the Viennese, will be kept alive.
