Mahboobeh Bayat: New deputy brings a breath of fresh air to Döbling!
In a trend-setting decision, Mahboobeh Bayat was elected as the new district head of the SPÖ Döbling. She follows Thomas Mader, who has moved to the local council. Despite the challenges that are in front of her, Bayat sees her new role as great responsibility and honor. "I can't afford not to be political," she confidently emphasizes in a current interview.
Bayat, who has lived in Vienna for 30 years and originally comes from Iran, is shaped by personal experiences in her political career. The birth of her daughter raised her awareness of equal opportunities and led her to get involved politically. This started when she became active with her child in the stroller at the SPÖ Döbling. "I want to promote a social, ecological and livable döbling," explains Bayat. The 51-year-old, who lives with her family in Döbling and is a mother of two children, sees the topics of education and affordable living as a central challenge for the district.
