Wörgl relies on sustainability: New electric vehicle for food delivery!

In Wörgl, the signs are on environmental protection and social responsibility: the health and social sprinklers have strengthened its commitment to people in need by handing over a new, sustainable delivery vehicle. On July 3, the new electric car was officially handed over by representatives of the Rotary Club Wörgl-Brixental and the Lions Club Wörgl. This environmentally friendly vehicle will support the daily delivery of food for around 60 people who are dependent on this help. Mayor Michael Riedhart praised the service clubs for their valuable support, especially in times of scarce health insurers, such as meinbezirk.at reported.

The food delivery takes place daily between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with the commitment of 30 volunteer drivers and sponsors. As Lions Club President Jakob Kruckenhauser emphasizes, the team's reinforcement is urgently needed to counteract the increasing expenses. Another sign of positive change: the old vehicle, which was in use for more than 11 years and was able to deliver over 160,000 meals, is now replaced by a modern Peugeot with an electric drive.

a step in the direction of electromobility

The new electric vehicle is not only a step towards sustainability, it also offers space for 60 meal boxes and contributes to the departure of fossil fuels. Wörgl is also making progress in this regard: a Renault Kangoo, equipped with an automatic electric drive and a range of 130 to 170 km, is already used for delivery of 40 meals per day, as [tt] (https://www.tt.com/artikel/10260614/essen-auf-raedern-krmt- exhaust-free). This vehicle replaces an older diesel vehicle and is jointly financed by the municipal utilities and the municipality of Wörgl, with an environmental funding of 4,000 euros from the state.

The commitment to electromobility is supported by the "Social and Mobile" funding program of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Security. This enables social institutions such as the Wörgler health and social sprinklers to maintain cheaper leasing conditions and at the same time reduce their CO2 emissions. As part of this initiative, funding of up to 10,000 euros per vehicle is even possible, which makes it much easier to purchase additional electric vehicles, according to the funding portal.

Finally, it can be stated that Wörgl not only set standards in social commitment, but also in environmental awareness. The support of the local service clubs and the integration of new technologies to protect our environment show that something is really in motion here. Applause deserves to everyone involved who are committed to this important thing!
