Economic whitening in West Styria: Hope despite challenges!

In the middle of the year,

in southern and West Styria, a first slight lightening is emerging in the otherwise rough economic climate. As meinbezirk.at showed the economic barometer a small upward trend, while Peter Sükar, chairman of the Voitsberg Chamber of Commerce, describes this condition as rather behavior. Despite the upswing, the balances are still clearly negative. Over 80 percent of companies complain of the deterioration in the current situation, and expectations for the future result in a balance of minus 14.1 percentage points.

But in some places there are bright spots: a small part, exactly 12.9 percent of companies, looks optimistically at the coming months. According to Sükar, the majority still sees high risks, especially due to the persistently high work and energy costs, which the economic climate affect. The salt value of minus 79.3 percent shows that an improvement occurs compared to six months earlier, but the total situation remains challenging.

challenges and scope for action

The current figures are sobering: the total turnover has reduced -9.5 percent, the order situation is -30.7 percent, and the employment views provide for a decline of -16.2 percent. At the same time, prices increase by +12.4 percent, which further increases the pressure on companies. For the coming months, Sükar expects easy improvements in sales development (-0.5 percent) and the order situation (+9.1 percent). However, the employment view remains pessimistic with -19.9 percent.

Peter Sükar points out that the majority of entrepreneurs consider the high labor costs (81.7 percent) and energy costs (61.6 percent) as serious obstacles to competition. Bureaucracy is also perceived by 54.1 percent of those surveyed as a brake block. Here, relief from politics could urgently be necessary to boost the willingness to invest and the general economy in West Styria.

look into the future

The economic prospects for the economy in the region are therefore tense. Companies urgently need support from targeted measures to relieve work and energy costs as well as through a de-bureaucratization offensive, as Sükar demands. The Federal Statistical Office has already researched various approaches in the past to provide economic indicators up to date and precisely. New technologies, such as the use of satellite data, play an increasingly important role in analyzing the economic situation and developing corresponding early indicators, as can be read on Destatis.de So

The situation remains exciting, and it remains to be hoped that the announced measures will be fruitful- because companies in southern and West Styria have a good hand for creative solutions, they only need the right framework!
