Butterfly lights in Graz: Discover the moth!

Karolinenweg 11, 8010 Graz, Österreich - The nightly world of butterflies captivates nature lovers again. On 5. July 2025 the city of Graz organizes in cooperation with the Nature Conservation Bund The expedition" Sorts Hauenstein ". This exciting event begins at 8:45 p.m. at the Föllingerstraße/Tullhofweg entrance in Mariatrost. Under the direction of the biologists Alexander Weihs and Frank Weihmann , the participants can discover the fascinating world of domestic moths.

The focus on this evening is the over 3,800 different types of moths in Austria, which also include remarkable specimens such as the Japanese oak silk spinner, with an impressive wing span of up to 14 centimeters. The curious moths are attracted with the help of UV light, which promises an extraordinary experience.
