LKH Eastern Styria: Health redefined - quality at the highest level!

Fürstenfeld, Österreich - The merger of the Kages-hospitals Feldbach, Fürstenfeld and Hartberg for a common LKH Oststeiermark on January 1, 2024 already shows impressive results. "The development is extremely positive," says company director Peter Braun, who emphasizes the increased quality and reliability in patient care. With an average length of stay of only 4.98 days, the LKH Eastern Styria is now at eye level with the University Clinic Graz. This makes a big difference for the patients, such as meinzirgezirk.at.

A look at the numbers reveals the enormous performance of the new hospital network: in 2024 25,982 inpatient and 112,882 outpatient patients were looked after. This is done by a team of 1,449.08 full -time equivalents (VZÄ), which show a high commitment. The LKH average is 95.8 patients per VZÄ, which is above the Styria kWite average of 88.6. Also in the inpatient area, LKH Eastern Styria shows itself with 17.9 inpatient cases per VZÄ above the average of 14.7.

innovations for the patients

The introduction of new supply models such as the neurological monitoring unit Rehab B in Feldbach is particularly gratifying. This initiative testifies to a remarkable step to improve medical care in the region. In addition, the Breast Health Center Feldbach-Fürstenfeld has been certified again and receives a new psycho-oncological supply model that will be extended to all locations by 2027.

But what does the health infrastructure look like in the entire Styria? A central goal is equivalent health care, regardless of the place of residence. The country has adapted to demographic change: the increasing life expectancy, the increasing medical needs and the falling birth rate present the health facilities of challenges. In order to counteract the long waiting times in the healthcare system, various measures are planned, such as the introduction of a virtual emergency center and a modern alarm system for medical emergencies, as in steiermark.orf.at.

perspectives for the future

In addition, the expansion of the health centers is promoted in Styria to ensure that the care is available. The initiatives for a health telephone and the medmobil services for home visits to acute complaints are also steps in the right direction. The attractiveness of jobs in hospitals is to be increased with salary increases and training initiatives. The “Helping Hands” project aims to relieve the staff and increase the necessary resources.

The future looks promising for both LKH Eastern Styria and the Styrian health landscape. While the new structure of the hospitals in the region already bears fruit, the country remains active to master the challenges of health care and to increase the quality of life for all citizens. It remains exciting what further progress will be made in the coming years to continue to ensure the health of the population, as well as Health Styria.
