Soroptimist Deutschlandsberg: Strong against cyber bullying in schools!

The responsibility for the security of our children is close to our heart, and that is exactly why the Club SoropTimist Deutschlandsberg actively actively at schools. Under the direction of President Ingrid Konrad, a wide range of measures is offered to protect children and adolescents from dangerous influences such as violence, cyber bullying and drug abuse.

In times when communication via the Internet is indispensable for many young people, the focus is particularly on topics such as cyber bullying. Troubling reports show that over 18% of children and adolescents in Germany have already become the victim of cyber bullying. The Cyberlife-Study 2024 reveals that more than a quarter of those affected even fight with suicide thoughts. This makes it clear how important preventive measures are to help young people.

prevention measures in schools

The Club Soroptimist supports schools with financial resources for workshops and projects that aim to improve media literacy. These workshops focus on the causes and consequences of cyber bullying as well as other problems such as drug abuse and violence. Participation in these workshops, which is carried out by trained police officers, is free of charge and can be asked directly, which makes it easier for schools to gain access to high -quality prevention work.

The prevention program "Under 18" of the police is aimed specifically at young people aged 13 and over. In a protected framework, the discussion is discussed and worked in a protected framework in order to promote respectful coexistence. In addition, the club also offers cooperations with experts who carry out additional violence prevention training courses. The goal remains clear: as many children and adolescents as possible should receive the necessary support.

cyber bullying as a social problem

cyber bullying is not only an individual problem, but also represents a social challenge that also requires the media literacy of young users. The effects are serious, and it is not surprising that 78% of parents also call for prevention programs in schools in a survey. Jugendschutz Lower Saxony reports on educational offers that are carried out in schools and out-of-school institutions in order to work directly on the topics with young people.

These projects, including specially developed materials and methods, enable students to sensitize students to the problem. It is important that not only the young people, but also teachers and specialists are trained in youth work. Workshops and training enables them to react appropriately to incidents and act preventively.

Overall, it can be seen that the cooperation of all actors in the educational landscape is of the utmost importance in order to create a safe and respectful environment for our children. It is essential that the voices of the parents and experts remain audible. This is the only way we can tackle cyber bullying and other dangers together.
