Marchtrenk joins the climate alliance: a strong sign of sustainability!
Marchtrenk, Österreich - The Catholic parish of Marchtrenk has joined the large network of the climate alliance and thus sets a strong sign of climate protection and global justice. This significant decision was celebrated with the blessing of a new cycling station, such as "https://www.tips.at/nachrichten/wels/land-leute/687502-klimabuendnis-bekommt-zachs-aus-marchtrenk"> Tips . Marchtrenk is now part of a community of communities, educational institutions, companies and parishes that actively work for sustainable life.
The city of Marchtrenk describes accession as a manifestation of lived responsibility for creation. With the entry into the climate alliance, which has existed for over 30 years and comprises over 2,000 member municipalities from more than 25 countries, the parish pursues the goals of climate protection, global justice and sustainability. These goals are based, among other things, on the views of the late Pope Francis to the ecological crisis, as well as sustainable measures in the municipality
But joining to the climate community is more than just a symbol. Since the admission in May 2023, the parish has been trying to improve its climate regulation. The installation of a pellet heating for the heat supply of the parish center is only one of the numerous initiatives. Certified green electricity is also covered and the parish has been producing solar power for over ten years. Also structural measures such as improved insulation, new windows and the use of LED lighting are also on the agenda to significantly increase energy efficiency. The energy consumption is regularly analyzed to find further improvements. The review of a possible expansion of the photovoltaic system shows how serious the community is with climate protection. Markus Peböck, head of the "Climate Protection" working group, emphasizes that the goal is to reduce ecological footprint and promote sustainable action. Events are also organized in an environmentally friendly manner in the municipality and climate -friendly foods are on the table during a wide variety of events. Admission to the climate alliance family also conveys a strong feeling of community and responsibility. Norbert Rainer, managing director of the climate alliance, sums up this: "Everything is connected". He points out that the challenges of climate change, the extinction of species, poverty and social inequality are directly related. This insight is not only theoretical, but is tangible through the direct measures and the commitment of the parish. Through information evenings, films and thematic services, the topic of climate justice in the community is treated all year round, which strengthens awareness of ecological topics. In MarchTrenk, this not only reacts to the urgency of climate change, but also a lively contribution to the global dialogue for sustainability and justice, as is the Climate allocation itself.
