The Interreg project has been carried out since September 1, 2023 and aims at sustainable and resilient development of tourism on the border between Bavaria and Austria. The challenges of digitization are particularly discussed here. A central concern of the "Digitization Offensive East Bavaria-Ober Austria" is the improvement of the digital competence and visibility of tourist service providers. In addition, the bookability of tourist offers is optimized and the cross -border presentation of tourist highlights in the two regions is strengthened. According to Bavarian Eisenstein is the free support offer especially for smaller hosts and adventure providers in the destinations of Bavarian Forest and Bavarian Thermenland planned.
insights into the digital future of tourism
With a total budget of 2.97 million euros, 75 % of which are funded by the EU, the project wants to advance digitization in the region by August 2026. An estimated 12,000 tourist service providers in Eastern Bavaria and Upper Austria should benefit. Coaching programs, website seminars and professional photo shoots are offered to increase the digital competence of the service providers.
The digitization coaching offer the participants an excellent opportunity for personal development in the digital area and help to increase the findability of their offers. Results of earlier digitization checks show that while the visibility of the service providers is good, online bookability can still be improved. Here the project partners start and develop an interactive, web -based travel companion. The Innviertel and the surrounding regions are doing everything they can to bring tourism digitally, but also to create an attractive range of leisure activities for locals and visitors. The project illustrates how important now, in times of digitization, joint action and cross -border cooperation are. The newly created visibility and bookability of events and experiences will ultimately lead to tourism in the region reaching a new level.
