Engerwitzdorf students discover their community on the exciting tour!
Engerwitzdorf, Österreich - The municipality of Engerwitzdorf was all about education and community on June 30, 2025. Students from two third classes of elementary school Treffling and a third grade from the Schweinbach elementary school took part in an educational parish tour, where they were able to explore their home community more closely. Mayor Herbert Fürst took over the role of the informative tour guide and gave the young participants important information about the diverse tasks of the municipal office and the functions of the mayor.
The tour led the students to several important stations, including the memorial, the Aegidiuskirche, the gate saw and the sewage treatment plant. Such experiences are not only instructive, but also raise awareness of the development of their community. Engerwitzdorf extends over 41 square kilometers and more than 9,100 inhabitants, which makes it one of the living communities in the region. During the tour, the students were informed about the 30 towns that belong to Engerwitzdorf and received insights into the various activities and projects that are underway in the community.
community projects and civil engagement
Engerwitzdorf relies on the integration of its citizens to further increase the quality of life in the community. The Community development has set itself the goal of strengthening the sense of community through social initiatives and promoting rooting with the community. These projects are particularly important to counteract the challenges of rural structural change. Voluntary commitment to old and young is a decisive factor in order to consolidate social networks and relationships within the community.
In addition to the parish tour, the schools in Engerwitzdorf are actively showing themselves in different areas. The elementary school Mittertreffling , for example, launched a natural project in 2023 and took part in various school competitions. Activities such as the "day of gratitude", excursions and creative workshops contribute to the positive development of the students and to strengthen the sense of community. A highlight was the handover of 10 new iPads, which were supported by a sponsorship campaign in the MINT area to promote the basic digital education.
All citizens can be proud of such projects and the commitment of the municipalities in Engerwitzdorf. They contribute to the fact that the youth develop a deeper understanding of their homeland and a stronger connection to their community. "More goes together" - that seems to be the motto that is at the top of the agenda in Engerwitzdorf.
