Go-on: New youth project for voluntary commitment in Gmunden!
The youth project Go-on returns and offers young people between the ages of 13 and 17 the opportunity to voluntarily get involved and gain valuable experience. The project, launched by Michaela Schmidt in 2022, brings a breath of fresh air to Youth Work in Gmund. Supported by Mario Krammer and Günter Steinhardt, chairman of the Healthy Community Working Group, GO-on will continue to be funded by the municipality in 2023.
Registration for interested participants starts in June, and if you are enthusiastic about the project, you can either find out more directly from the organizers or about the municipality. The young people can choose in which area they want to be active - be it old people's homes, social organizations or local associations. The concept relies on voluntariness and initiative, which was very well received by the previous participants. These report new skills, positive experiences and valuable contacts that you could make.
The rewards for the commitment are particularly exciting: the participants receive vouchers that can be redeemed in various shops in Gmunden, a nice gesture to reward the use. Christoph Uhl and Angelika Quirchmair also contribute to the successful implementation of the project. Further information on the registration options and areas of application will also be announced in the coming weeks.
international perspectives
But not only in Gmunden, young people can make a difference. There are also interesting ways to spend your own free time abroad. The Youth Portal describes how young people as volunteers in various areas-socially, ecological and culturally-can take action. The spectrum ranges from short -term missions to one to three months to long -term engagements that can take from three months.
The locations are worldwide, and no specific previous knowledge is required for many projects. However, it is important that the volunteers will inform themselves about the organization in which they are involved. The Gegweiser Voluntary Work emphasizes that there are numerous opportunities to get involved in social projects abroad. The projects are aimed at different population groups, from seniors to children to people with disabilities.
A good example of commitment abroad are programs that make a positive contribution in support centers or schools. For these missions, no special qualifications are often necessary, which opens the door for many young people who want to make a difference.
Overall, the go-on project in Gmunden is a wonderful opportunity for young people to become active and at the same time experience international perspectives through other volunteer work. While Gmundens youth is actively involved, the doors are also open to new experiences in the world. Further information on the projects and registration options can be found on the website of the municipality at www.gmunden.at.
