125 years of Marianum Freistadt: A school anniversary full of history!
Freistadt, Österreich - In Freistadt there is reason to celebrate! The Marianists look back on 125 years of their committed work in education. In 1898 they came to the Mühlviertel and took over the Schiffer’s school foundation two years later, which laid the foundation for the Marianum. Since then, school has shaped the school system in Upper Austria as a denominational educational institution. The roots of the school go back far: Mayor Ferdinand von Schiffer left a fortune to promote the upbringing of Freistädter youth in 1742. After the piarists inherited the foundation in 1752, they led schools in Freistadt until 1875, but then had to close the branch due to a lack of teachers. The century of transformations
The first years were shaped by continuous new buildings.
