Günser Straße, 2700 Wiener Neustadt, Österreich - On July 4, 2025, the Hofer branch on Günser Straße in Wiener Neustadt occurred an alarming incident: Rauch penetrated from a garbage press, which required an immediate reaction from the emergency services. A concerned private individual reported the alarm sign on emergency call 122. The Wiener Neustadt fire brigade then moved out with a tank fire engine and a team of nine emergency services to explore the situation.

The quick exploration showed that a smoldering fire had been created in the garbage press in the pressed box. To ensure security, a thermal imaging camera was used to localize the exact focal of fire. In coordination with a specialist company and the police, it was decided to open the container without worries. Accordingly, the suspicious container was transported to the landfill in Raketengasse.

The garbage press was transported with careful accompaniment. A police vehicle and the fire engine escorted the truck, which had raised the garbage press with a hook device. At the site, the landfill, the container of the container was completely examined and the fire was successfully deleted. The entire mission lasted around two hours, and the cooperation between the firefighters, the police and the employees of the city and municipal services was highlighted.

A look at the overall statistics shows that the fire brigades in Austria were particularly challenged in 2023, with a total of around 34,000 more missions than in the previous year. With this high frequency of use, the volunteer fire brigades in Lower Austria alone performed over 72,000 missions, an increase of 11% compared to the same period last year.
