161 years of music tradition: Bleiburg celebrates with a large anniversary concert!
Bleiburg, Österreich - A very special anniversary was celebrated on June 19, 2025 in the Werner Berg Museum in Bleiburg: the Bleiburg celebrated its 160th anniversary. Over 300 visitors came to celebrate the anniversary with a maritime concert that united old Carinthian songs and modern pieces. Under the direction of moderator Raimund Grilc offered the Bleiberger Viergesang and the folk music Aprian a musical framework that will surely be remembered.

The vocal club Bleiburg has a long and eventful history. It was founded in 1865 as a men's singing club. Since then there have been numerous milestones, including support from a women's choir in 1930 and the continuation of various choir leaders. For example, Karl Miklin took over the management in 1953, and in 2014 Andrea Landa became the new choir director.
The today's chairwoman, Erika Gunzer , has been leading the club since 2006. Under her aegis, the 150th anniversary of the association was celebrated with a special ceremony at Bleiburg Castle in 2015. The close connections to the Carinthian song Prince Thomas Koschat underline the cultural anchoring of the choir in the region.
