Fully drunk jubilation festival: Nebersdorf celebrates 800 years of history!
On June 23, 2025, Neersdorf celebrated a very special anniversary: 800 years since the first document in 1225. The festival took place in a solemn framework in front of the castle in the center of the town and offered numerous guests a great program. Mayor Martin Karall took the opportunity to emphasize that the celebrations will continue all year round. Event highlights such as the name of the Käthe Sasso Platz and a New Year's concert are still imminent. A sporting event is particularly waiting for the youth: a beach volleyball tournament will be held on July 19th.
The festivity of the anniversary was accompanied by a number of political well -wishers. Among them were deputy governor Anja Haider-Wallner, State Councilor Heinrich Dorner, Chamber of Agriculture Nikolaus Berlakovich as well as representatives of the Croatian embassy and district captain Karl Trummer. The family of the former castle owner Franz Vogt was also present. Haider-Wallner paid tribute to the cultural and linguistic diversity of Neerndorf, while Dorner pointed out the role of ethnic groups for Burgenland identity.

Viktor Ratasich, the oldest Nebersdorfer at the age of 92, reviewed the 1950s. The newly founded Tamburica group Nebersdorf performed for the first time and enriched the celebration with musical momentum.A real highlight was the cut of the large anniversary cake, which symbolically stands for the past and future cooperation. After the official ceremony, the Musikverein Drassmarkt continued. The festivals enjoyed delicious schnitzel and chilli while a children's afternoon was held for the young visitors. On the evening before, an exuberant party in the circus tent of the Circus Glück cultural initiative had already taken place, creating a mood for live music from the band Pax and a rare appearance of Bruji.
