Culinary restart: Güssing Castle attracts pleasure lovers!

Güssing, Österreich - The traditional Güssing in the heart of Burgenland has dared to start a new beginning in the last few weeks. After almost three years in which culinary life was suspended at the castle, the Pelikan burst restaurant was reopened in the historical "widow's wing" in early July. In less than four months of construction, the operators invested two million euros, a large part of which was covered by funding from the country. The administrator of the castle foundation, Michael Gerbavsits, emphasizes the importance of preserving the historical heritage of the castle for future generations.

Clear that the renaissance of the bursta restaurant does not only serve the gastronomy. Mayor Vinzenz Knor sees the project as "added value for the region" because it is supposed to attract both locals and tourists. Another plus: The ongoing exhibition "The Pelican about Güssing" particularly addresses cultural tourists from Hungary, who can beat a bridge to the history of the castle. Finally, the castle was founded in 1157 as a wooden military plant and has continued to this day a remarkable development that has made it a cultural center.

new gastronomy offer for all

The new restaurant is managed by "Guesthäuser and Kitchens Burgenland" and offers a varied offer. Particularly noteworthy is the weekend breakfast buffet, which should be very popular. The two terraces of the restaurant offer space for up to 200 people, so that even larger celebrations can be unforgettable.

The castle itself can be visited at a fair price, whereby the admission prices are designed as follows:

Visitor group Price
adults € 8.50
senior women € 7.00
pupils, apprentices, students, presence or civil servants € 5.00
family card € 18.00
groups (from 10 people)
adults € 7.00
senior women € 6.50
pupils, apprentices, students, presence or civil servants € 4.50

Guided tours for groups of 10 or more people can be organized by prior registration, and the journey to the castle is also made easier by an inclined elevator that can be used for a small price. Enjoy the historical ambience and fresh cuisine in one of the oldest preserved castles in Burgenland.

What could be better than a trip to Güssing Castle? Visitors can not only admire the impressive architecture that symbolizes moments of history over the centuries, but also enjoy the new culinary diversity that the project brings with it. The Güssing Castle has a lot to offer and once again proves that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand.
