17 million euros for new Stromtrasse in Burgenland - now it starts!

In the recent development to improve the power supply in Austria, the existing 110 KV management between the Wiener Neustadt and Wasenbruck substations is renewed. This measure is promoted by Netz Niederösterreich GmbH, whereby the total costs for the project are 17 million euros. The project manager Markus Marady will head the project, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. The old line with 82 -year -old concrete masts is replaced by modern steel pipe masts. Kurier reports that the new route, which is a total of 26 kilometers long, creates a larger distance from the populated areas in Au, Stotzing and Müllendorf is.

The new masts will be built by the end of the year and the conductor ropes are raised, while the existing masts are removed after installation. Interestingly, the new route will be shorter than the old one, and around 14 hectares of forest paths have to be cleared, but which should be reforested again by reforestation projects. Another aspect is that the route largely runs on an existing management lane of the Esterhazy Forst farms, which is only widened. For the construction site access, well-attached paths are required, which can remain after completing the work, provided that this makes sense for agricultural and forestry use.

environmental and health aspects

An important point in such projects are the electromagnetic fields that arise from electrical currents and tensions. netz-niederösterrei informs that there are limit values for the operation of electrical appliances that have been set by health authorities and the WHO. These limit values are always observed in the construction and operation of electricity networks. In addition, the competent authority regularly checks compliance with these standards.

For overhead lines, such as the new route, the masts are usually made of steel grilles or concrete. High -voltage lines that run over 110 kV are usually grid lines, which are attributed to many technical advantages. When discussing the health effects of electricity networks, reference is often made to high-voltage equal current technology (HGÜ), which is known for its loss-making transport. Bfs makes it clear that the magnetic fields near HGÜ lines do not cause any health damage.

Promotion of renewable energies

Another aspect that is relevant in connection with the network expansion are the numerous connection requests for wind power and photovoltaic systems. This connection to renewable energies is crucial because the electrical performance values of the wind turbines exceed the electricity requirement in the supply area. Netz Niederösterreich GmbH checks all feed -in requests and evaluates them in coordination with the operators. This development shows that the company is ready to invest in the infrastructure in order to meet the requirements of the energy transition - and there is clearly what is for the future of power supply in Austria.
