Lugner City, Wien, Österreich - On June 27, 2025, the Lugner City in Vienna was once again the scene for exciting sporting encounters. On this day the Vienna Table Tennis Cup 2025 took place, which was ceremoniously opened at 11 a.m. with an opening speech. There were illustrious guests such as the district leader Mr. Baurecht, Ms. Jaqueline Lugner and of course the popular moderator Günther Herzog. Michael Mader, chairman of the Table Tennis Hobby Vienna Association, presented the goals of the event, which included an inclusive access to sports and promoting new encounters. The atmosphere was exuberant from the start and was additionally heated up by the summer weather. The spectators were also able to actively participate in the games, because the table tennis tables were released for everyone interested.
The tournament started from 1 p.m. and the first groups of participants competed against each other. Over 32 players were registered, and spontaneous teammates were also very welcome. Especially in the knockout phase from the quarter-finals, the intensity of the games rose, which captivated many spectators. At the end of the day there was an award ceremony in which the best players were honored: M. Riglthaler took first place, followed by K. Becker and M. Ponjarac, who took third place. It was particularly gratifying that it was a personal premiere for M. Riglthaler because his brother was among the top three at the last event.A club looks optimistic about the future
The association Table Tennis Hobby Vienna draws a consistently positive record of the event. Michael Mader expressed hope that it was soon launching his own district team from Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus for the Viennese table tennis district league.
