Bellaria cinema: Millions of campaign secures Revival in Vienna!
The Bellaria cinema in Vienna, one of the oldest cinemas in the city, has had a long and eventful path. After more than three years of renovation period, the reopening is now imminent. But how did it come about? The operator of the Votiv cinema, Michael Stejskal, and Moritz Baier from Café Liebling started a crowdfunding campaign to collect the urgently needed 100,000 euros for the renovation.
The initiative was extremely successful: a total of 1,453 supporters brought together 135,435 euros, which shows that the love of the Bellaria cinema in the Viennese population has been unbroken. According to Film.at Stejskal was pleased with the great support. The campaign, which ended on April 10 after seven weeks, ensured that the city of Vienna provided an additional 100,000 euros for the renovation. This underlines the city's commitment to cultural diversity.

The planned work, however, is noticeably long. The first goals could be achieved, but the originally targeted reopening in 2022 had to be postponed due to setbacks during construction processing. Building fences and craftsmen around the cinema are still visible, while the work on the ventilation system and new cinema technology are in full swing, as the 1000th Magazine .
The Bellaria, which was opened in 1912 and had to close in 2019 after more than 100 years, will soon become a popular meeting place for film enthusiasts. The concept brings a breath of fresh air to the Viennese cinema landscape and gives the traditional cinema new shine. The plans for continued operation are not only convincing, but also a good sign of culture in Vienna.
