Rescue of the new Bamberger Hütte: Unification in the cable car dispute!
The future of the new Bamberger Hütte in the Kitzbüheler Alpen is in a new light after turbulent months. The German Alpine Association (DAV) has now reached an agreement in the dispute over the use of the cable car and the associated lease. If there hadn't been this agreement, the hut might have been sealed after 69 years. The unexpected termination by the Kappa Privat Foundation had caused massive resentment because it affected the winter season 2024/25 and included the use of the only alpine pasture with high fees.
The mayor of Hopfgarten, Paul Sieberer, has emerged in the negotiations as an important intermediary and contributed to the fact that a new contract could now be concluded with regard to cable car use and the forest path. "This is a great relief for us and for the hikers," said Matthias Werb, the chair of the DAV section Bamberg. The 70th anniversary of the new Bamberger Hütte, which will take place on June 29, 2025, could now be celebrated in a festive framework. Mercury reports that ...
A look at the hut itself shows that it is at a height of around 1,700 meters and offers 72 beds for hikers and ski tourers all year round. She has been operated by the Bamberg DAV section for almost 69 years and received its necessary supply from a material cable car. The termination of the corresponding lease was declared legal by the Kappa Privat Foundation, because according to the private foundation Raufusshühner in the region, the cable car could be at risk. BR reports that ...
One of the problems resulting from this Situation is the high cost factor. In the worst case, the DAV would have to raise around 80,000 euros to reduce the cable car if the talks fail. In addition, the fees for the use of the forest road, which could lead to another supply path, are high and prepare the DAV difficulties. Robert Kolbitsch from the DAV Federal Association, however, estimates the danger to brawl at the hut.
In view of the challenges, the DAV also sees the need to find alternative - but environmentally friendly - solutions. Wolfgang Arnoldt, Vice President of the DAV, underlines the importance of nature conservation behavior and the promotion of the personal responsibility of the mountain athletes. Visitor steering is seen as a decisive aspect in the development of the Alpine region to protect sensitive areas and at the same time give people access. Alpenverein reports that ...Finally, it can be said that the new Bamberger hut is facing an exciting phase, in which cooperation, understanding and nature conservation solutions will continue to be in the foreground. The coming months could decide how the challenges in the Alps can be overcome and whether the hut will continue to be a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers in the future.
